Majorda Beach Goa
One of the most exotic beaches of Goa, the Majorda Beach has been attracting thousands of tourists from different parts of the world due to its supreme elegance and natural beauty. The western people are often mesmerized with the soft white sands on this beach coupled with the pristine water of the Arabian Sea. The wonderful scenery of the colorful beach is truly worth praising and the serene atmosphere of Goa Majorda Beach will provide you the ideal atmosphere to rejuvenate.
There are some myths associated with this incredible beach of Goa. The most popular one being that Lord Rama had once been brought to this beach when he was a child. Again while going through his search for his wife Devi Sita he gave his presence on Cabo-de-Rama, located at the southern part of the Goa Majorda Beach. Due to the increasing number of visitors coming to the Goa Majorda Beach, a number of luxury hotels and beach resorts have come up here. The facilities and amenities provided by these hotels and beach resorts in Majorda matches world class standard and here you can enjoy your vacations with ultimate pleasure and comfort.
Goa Majorda Beach offers some of the best restaurants in the area that serves mouth watering treats to its guests. If you are fond of sea foods then going to these beach restaurants of Majorda Beach will definitely satisfy your taste buds. Majorda Beach is only a few km from Panaji and is well connected with other parts of the city through buses and taxis. The nearest railway station is at Margao and you can even get buses from the Dabolim airport which is about few minutes drive from the Majorda Beach.
This small stretch beach stretches about 5 Km’s north of Colva Beach along the coastline. It is in no way comparable to Colva Beach that lies just south along the coast
Majorda is one of the smaller developed beaches of Goa, albeit the whole area possesses a lot of character, with small fishing villages scattered around palm groves. This South Goa beach area is the site of three spacious deluxe Goa hotel resorts, quite popular with those on a Goa holiday package tour. To its north are two other small beaches; Arossim, which is its deserted northern end, and Utorda, ten minutes walk further north. The resorts, along with the lack of any typically cheap Goa accommodation makes the area relatively exclusive. For more action you could hop onto one of the most loved beaches of Goa, Colva, 5 km south.
The villages in the area are relatively prosperous, partly because many families have men working in the Gulf, and many traditional mansions of wealthy families stand out.
Majorda is also the village where the Jesuits, fond as they were of the good things of life, discovered the best Goa toddy (traditional beer made from the coconut palm sap), which they used to leaven the bread. Thus the Majordians were the first to be trained in the art of baking European breads, and are still the best bakers of Goa or India.
